Let's talk about, How Victor Von Doom became the sorcerer-scientist ruler of Latveria and the most feared villain of the multiverse era. The story of this villain is so fascinating.
Introduction
Doctor Doom is the sworn enemy of Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic) and the Fantastic Four. Doctor Doom’s only real weakness in the comics is arrogance, or ego. He first appeared in The Fantastic Four Issue #5. The King of Latveria was introduced so quickly that his full origin story came later.
His mask hides the scars on his face. He is one of the most brilliant minds on Earth, and he also holds sorcerer-level powers—he was even the Sorcerer Supreme at one point. His only goal is to make the world better—by ruling it. And it brings great excitement to us fans that we might see a variant of Tony Stark playing Doctor Doom in the MCU
The Backstory – From the Books of Doom
To protect her people, Cynthia made a deal with Mephisto. Using her powers, she attacked the Baron’s soldiers—but tragically, she also killed innocent children in the process. The villagers turned on her and killed her.
Before dying, Cynthia told Werner to protect Victor from the dark magic. Werner tried to give Victor a normal life, even introducing him to a girl named Valeria, who helped him cope with the trauma.
The Beginning of Doom
One day, the Baron called Werner to heal his wife. When she died despite his efforts, the Baron’s men chased him and Victor. They hid on a snowy mountain where Werner froze to death overnight. Victor saw a vision of his mother and began to uncover her connection with Mephisto. He found her spell books and artifacts. When magic didn’t help, he turned to science, blending the two to protect his people. Eventually, Victor killed a soldier for the first time—a moment that deeply scarred him.
The Genius Goes to America
An American general noticed Victor's brilliance and invited him to the U.S. for higher education in exchange for building weapons. There, Victor met another genius—Reed Richards—who respected Victor’s intelligence. While Victor studied, he secretly built his own lab and continued his experiments to find his mother. He even got close to time travel. At a college party, drunk and emotional, Victor nearly harmed a girl, haunted by the memory of his first kill. The college covered up the incident.
Personally, I hope they also keep a version of Doom close to the comics, who appears again and again in the MCU.
