MCU Reset Confirmed: Kevin Feige Drops Major Post-Secret Wars Updates!
There’s a huge breaking update for all Marvel fans!
Kevin Feige has finally sat down in front of the media and talked in-depth about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) — and trust me, everything has been revealed!
MCU Reboot After Secret Wars Is Official!
Feige recently held a press conference with major media outlets, and in an interview, he officially confirmed that the MCU will undergo a reboot after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Old characters will return with new faces, and the focus will shift toward mutants and street-level heroes. While this was already rumored, Feige has now confirmed it himself — and he even dropped a few juicy extras.
He revealed that Marvel has a 7-year roadmap ready, extending to 2032, but they keep it flexible. Titles are constantly being repositioned based on story progress, development speed, and audience feedback.
Feige said, Endgame was about endings. Secret Wars is about beginnings.
While the word “reboot” sounds a bit scary to him, he’s calling it a "reset of the singular timeline." That means: Some elements will be rewritten and Some elements will be retained
New Faces, Legacy Characters
This soft reset will allow Marvel to refresh the MCU.
-
New Iron Man, new Steve Rogers, and others will return with new actors.
-
Feige cited James Bond as an example — an immortal character kept alive by different actors.
-
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor may continue — Feige says, “He’s still in his prime.”
-
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is also likely to be retained.
-
There are even plans to recast T’Challa and continue the legacy of Black Panther.
Marvel is also considering bringing back Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk in his savage version, since fans weren’t too happy with Smart Hulk.
Plus, older characters may get one last goodbye via the Multiverse.
Focus Shifts to Mutants
Feige confirmed that the MCU will now focus on mutants post-Secret Wars, and here’s the big reveal: The first MCU X-Men movie will be directed by Jake Schreier, who’s already worked on Thunderbolts.
This new X-Men lineup will consist of younger actors like:
-
Young Jean Grey
-
Cyclops
-
Kitty Pryde
-
Jubilee
-
Iceman
And guess what? Wolverine won’t be the central hero anymore, but a balanced team member. Feige said he wants to move away from Fox’s Wolverine-centric style, and instead adopt a "Hogwarts-style mutant academy" feel — where young mutants struggle with their powers and social realities.
The main villains? Not Magneto or Apocalypse… but humans — like:
-
Trask
-
Senator Kelly
-
Friends of Humanity
Feige emphasized that the real threat is how the world treats mutants, which has always been the emotional core of the X-Men.
Blade Update: Mahershala Ali’s Blade Goes Modern
After multiple rewrites and directors, Kevin Feige confirmed that Blade will be set in the modern day. Earlier drafts were period pieces — but they’ve been scrapped. Feige made it clear: "We didn’t want to just throw leather on Mahershala and have him slash vampires. That’s not storytelling."
This new Blade film will lay the foundation for the supernatural corner of the MCU, with possible team-ups including:
-
Doctor Strange
-
Moon Knight
-
Elsa Bloodstone
Blade is now expected to release after Secret Wars.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Big news for Spidey fans! Feige confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be a street-level reboot. Tom Holland’s Spidey will finally become the grounded NYC hero we all love — no Iron Man gadgets, no multiverse chaos. "For the first time in Tom Holland’s journey, he is truly Spider-Man."
-
Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will play a major role, though slightly toned down.
-
The tone will remain gritty.
-
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi).
-
8–9 iconic comic book covers will be recreated for the film!
Hulk’s cameo? Not confirmed, but open. There’s also a hint at a future Human Torch–Spidey team-up, staying true to comic book roots.
Miles Morales in the MCU?
Feige clarified: Live-action Miles Morales cannot debut until Sony releases Beyond the Spider-Verse, likely in 2027.
So, best-case scenario:
🕷️ Miles Morales enters the MCU in 2028.
Feige also said that Miles deserves his own spotlight.
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Future
Feige confirmed that:
-
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool survives the reset
-
His solo movies may reduce, but he’ll appear in cameos or supporting roles
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine? His return might be one-time only. Feige hinted that a recasting is inevitable for long-term plans. Still, he praised Ryan Reynolds' improvisation and the success of R-rated Deadpool, confirming: "Deadpool has a long-term future in the MCU."
Young Avengers Status
While characters like:
-
Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani)
-
Kate Bishop
-
Billy & Tommy
have all been set up, there’s no Young Avengers project greenlit yet.
Feige called Iman Vellani: "One of the best castings in the MCU."
However, he hinted that the Young Avengers concept may be scrapped after the reset.
Major Disney+ Strategy Shift
Feige admitted the truth many fans felt. "It started to feel like homework."
Since 2019, Marvel has released 1127+ hours of content — overwhelming both fans and the movies.
Moving forward:
📺 Only ONE live-action MCU series will release per year.
Shows will either be:
-
Narratively essential to films
-
OR completely disconnected (optional viewing)
Past misfires like Secret Invasion and She-Hulk affected the brand. Future shows must be meaningful or skippable.
Post-Credit Scenes Will Matter Again
Feige also addressed Phase 4 and 5’s confusing post-credit scenes — and confirmed that future scenes will be thoughtfully written with actual payoff.
Characters like Starfox, Hercules, Clea may return — or may quietly vanish. The reset allows Marvel to drop unresolved plotlines if needed.
Even the Incredible Hulk’s Leader returned after 17 years, so anything’s possible.
Kevin Feige’s Future in Marvel
Feige currently has 2 years left on his contract, but he said he wants to continue for 10–15 more years — and his roadmap proves it.
So yes, his contract will almost certainly be renewed.
MCU Rebirth Incoming
After this master plan by Kevin Feige, one thing is crystal clear:
💥 After Secret Wars, the MCU won’t just reset… it’ll be reborn.
A fresh cinematic universe is coming — for new heroes, new villains, and a new generation of fans. No homework. Just awesome storytelling.
